Get active, stay active!
Maintaining regular exercise is a fantastic way to lose weight and improve your overall health and wellbeing.
Why being active is important
Being active has a huge range of benefits, from improving your mood to helping avoid life-limiting conditions. Exercising on a regular basis helps manage your weight, which not only improves your physical appearance, but will help reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes, heart attack, strokes and some cancers. It will also help lower your blood cholesterol and blood pressure levels. Our support isn’t just for those who want to get fit, if you’re at risk of falls, have been in hospital or bed ridden it’s also a great way to get back into movement. As a result, you’ll develop stronger bones, muscles and joints, you’ll be stable on your feet whilst also lower your risk of developing osteoporosis. The endorphins from exercise will give you more energy, help you sleep better, make you feel happier and more relaxed.
How we can support you to be more active
During the session, our Health Coaches will discuss what kind of physical activity you want to increase and make a plan with you based on a goal setting approach. This can also include helping you access new activities that you’d like to try. We also run weekly Health Walks, see the information below.
Who is eligible for the service
- Anyone aged 16+ who lives or works in Bath & North East Somerset
- Or registered with a GP in Bath & North East Somerset

About the Physical Activity sessions
Your initial Physical Activity appointment will be a face to face appointment for 1 hour (if you prefer a telephone appointment then this is also possible). You will then be offered follow up appointments over the phone, see the timetable below for our times. If you also have a Wellbeing Coach referral these Physical Activity conversations can be incorporated into your Wellbeing Coach session.
Prefer to get active outside? Join a Health Walk!
Join our trained walk leaders on one of our weekly health walks! For 30 minutes to an hour. This is great for mental as well as physical health, and also give you the chance to socialise, meet new people and enjoy nature. Situated in Bath, Keynsham and Midsomer Norton. This is a great opportunity to get outside for a walk, with a friendly group and an opportunity to meet new people.
